CUSTOM TATTOOS

I'm going to go in depth a bit more with my aftercare instructions on my website. Do not change or alter my aftercare methods, as I have found the best way for my tattoos to heal.  Every tattoo artist is different and caters their aftercare procedures to best suit their tattoo techniques and style.

That being said, do not take anyone else's advice on how to take care of MY tattoo on your body. If you feel you are not experiencing the best possible healing experience, please contact me ASAP so that we can make appropriate changes to your aftercare.

Below are three different methods I prefer to heal my tattoos.

"Co-Co Butter Method"

  • After your tattoo session, your tattoo will be wrapped in saran wrap.
  • In approximately 1-3 hours, remove the saran wrap and wash the tattoo with Liquid Gold Dial Antibacterial Soap  (Absolutely no other types of soap)
  • Wash your hands with the Dial soap before you wash your tattoo (you should always wash your hands before you touch your tattoo)
  • Squirt the dial soap on your fingers, and wash the tattoo gently with warm water and your fingers only.
  • Each time you wash your tattoo, pat the tattoo dry with a good quality paper towel
  • After the tattoo is patted dry, air dry the tattoo for 30 minutes.
  • After you air dried the tattoo, wash your hands, then apply a super thin layer of Palmer's Coco Butter to the entire tattoo area (don't cake on ointment, oxygen is more important than ointment)
  • Do not suffocate your tattoo with ointment! Super thin layers approximately 3x/day
  • Your tattoo should only appear to be mildly shiny after ointment application.  Blot off any excess with a paper towel if need be
  • Wash your tattoo 2x/day, morning and night.
  • I want you to sleep with your tattoo covered in saran wrap for the first 4 nights.
  • Wrap your tattoo with saran wrap.  Do not wrap it too tight, but tight enough that it will not slip off too much during sleep.  You may need to secure the saran wrap with tape to prevent it from slipping off during sleep.
  • Wash your tattoo and apply ointment as mentioned above as soon as you wake up in the morning
  • If bubbles start forming on your tattoo, that means that moisture has been trapped in the tattoo (generally from too much ointment).  If this happens, please refrain from using anymore ointment.  Wash your tattoo, then let it dry out completely until it stops seeping before applying anymore ointment.
  • The first few days, it is normal for the tattoo to sweat out ink (especially while your washing it), don't worry, your tattoo is not falling off. Lightly exfoliate ink discharge while you're washing it with your fingers.  Make sure and get all the slimy stuff off your tattoo while washing it.  If it doesn't come off smoothly, DO NOT PULL IT OFF.  Just wait and it will fall off eventually.
  • On average, tattoos are done with the majority of healing around 2 weeks.  Once the tattoo is done peeling, switch to scent free Lubriderm hand lotion
  • Lubriderm will need to be applied more often as it will dry out much faster than Coco Butter. Reapply Lubriderm anytime you feel it is getting too dry.
  • If any scabs form on your tattoo, do not peel them off, or pick at them.  If you remove scabs before they are ready to fall off, it is possible that they will remove ink from the tattoo.
  • Absolutely no sun while your tattoo is healing.
  • No swimming or fully submerging your tattoo while it is healing.
  • Refrain from excess amounts of alcohol, tobacco, stress, or shitty food while you are healing
  • Refrain from excessively sweating in the tattoo area while working or working out while your tattoo is healing
  • Do not scratch your tattoo if it itches.  Just to try to itch around it.  Just remember to wash your hands first.

"Wrapping Method"

  • After your tattoo session, your tattoo will be wrapped in saran wrap.
  • In approximately 1-3 hours, remove the saran wrap and wash the tattoo with Liquid Gold Dial Antibacterial Soap  (Absolutely no other types of soap)
  • Wash your hands with the Dial soap before you wash your tattoo.  You should always wash your hands before you touch your tattoo.
  • Squirt the dial soap on your fingers, and wash the tattoo gently with warm water and your fingers only. Each time you wash your tattoo, pat the tattoo dry with a good quality paper towel.
  • When washing your tattoo try to lightly remove all slimy discharge from the tattoo area.  If will not come off gently, do not pull it off.  It will come off eventually.
  • After the tattoo is patted dry, air dry the tattoo for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
  • After the tattoo is fully dried and is not seeping anymore, re-wrap the tattoo with saran wrap securing it in place with tape.
  • Approximately every 3-4 hours, or whenever you feel it start to get sweaty underneath the saran wrap, you will need to remove the saran wrap and wash the tattoo with Dial soap as mentioned above.
  • You will repeat this cycle throughout the entire day.
  • You will not use any ointment of any kind.
  • You will sleep with your tattoo wrapped for 4 nights.
  • After your tattoo has complete exfoliated, you can disregard wrapping it.
  • At this point, use Scent Free Lubriderm Hand Lotion to keep it moisturized.
  • Use Lubriderm anytime you feel your tattoo is getting too dry.

"Landerm Method"

  • After your tattoo session, I will have applied the product "Landerm" for you.
  • You will keep the Landerm on your tattoo for 4 days.
  • The patch will become filled with discharge and ink while healing.  While this will appear weird, this is actually the natural way to keep your tattoo moisturized while it heals. Do not be alarmed by the discharge collected underneath your Landerm patch.
  • If your patch leaks discharge, try to squeegee out a little bit of discharge (but not all of it) and pat that area dry with rubbing alcohol on a paper towel.  It should dry out and re-stick.
  • If it does not re-stick, I should have given you extra to make a patch (and shown you how to make a patch)
  • If at anytime your tattoo becomes exposed from the Landerm becoming loose.  You will need to remove the Landerm patch and follow the "CoCo Butter Method" or the "Wrapping Method" until your tattoo is healed.
  • If at anytime your tattoo becomes extremely dry underneath your Landerm patch from lack of discharge, you need to remove the Landerm patch and follow the "CoCo Butter Method" or the "Wrapping Method".
  • After 4 days, remove the Landerm patch, wash the tattoo area 2x/day, morning and night, with Liquid Gold Dial Antibacterial Soap.  Absolutely no other types of soap.  The Landerm patch must be removed when all of the discharge underneath the patch becomes dry.
  • Pat the tattoo dry with a good quality paper towel, then let the tattoo dry completely out for at least 1 hour.
  • From this point on, wash the tattoo 2x/day with the dial soap.
  • Use thin layers of CoCo butter to help moisturize the tattoo until it's done pealing.
  • Once it's completely done pealing, use scent free Lubriderm hand lotion to keep the tattoo moisturized.
